LUDINGTON — The following were sentenced recently in 79th District Court: – Scott Martin Stillson, 43, of 201 E. Fifth St., Scottville, was found guilty Jan. 7 of driving while license expired and sentenced to $285 in fines and costs and 90 days discretionary jail for one year. Conviction reportable to the Secretary of State (SOS). One count of driving while license suspended (DWLS), second offense, was dismissed. – Robert Earle Shriver, 51, of 1195 Chatterson Rd., Muskegon, was found guilty Jan. 8 of driving while unlicensed/never applied and sentenced to $275 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to SOS. – Eric Lee Gillespie, 48, of 222 E. Melendy St., Ludington, was found guilty Jan. 8 of allowing a stray dog – misdemeanor and sentenced to $160 in fines and costs. – Meagan Verona Krupinski, 31, of 5782 Bryant Rd., Ludington, was found guilty Jan. 8 of open intoxicant in a motor vehicle – passenger and sentenced to $265 in fines and costs. Charloon, Manistee, was arrested Jan. 9 by the Mason County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) for a felony of assault with a dangerous weapon and three counts of domestic violence. A probable cause hearing is set for Jan. 21 at 1:15 p.m. Bail: $7,500/cash/surety. Misdemeanors – Jonathan Sherrod Soloman-Jones, 23, of 709 E. Filer St., Ludington, was arrested Jan. 7 by LPD for a misdemeanor of aggravated assault – domestic. A pretrial is set for Jan. 26 at 10 a.m. Bail: $7,500/cash/surety. – Brittiny Ann Gibson, 23, of 5784 W. Johnson Rd., Ludington, was arrested Jan. 12 by the Hart post of the Michigan State Police (MSP-H) for a misdemeanor of third-degree retail fraud. Ludington man accused of rape may face trial.

LUDINGTON — A 22-year-old Ludington man charged with criminal sexual conduct first degree, along with several other charges, has turned down a plea agreement from the prosecutor and faces a jury trial in 51st Circuit Court. Jon Lloyd Maccune, of 924 E. Tinkham Ave., Apt. 201, appeared in court Tuesday afternoon. He  was arrested following an Aug. 25, 2014 incident at Pineway Apartments. He faces charges of CSC first degree, home invasion first degree, CSC third degree, domestic violence and habitual offender second offense. Mason County Prosecutor Paul Spaniola offered to drop the charges of home invasion, CSC third degree, domestic violence and repeat offender. Maccune would have to serve 13 to 40 years maximum in prison for the CSC first degree charge and 10 to 20 years, concurrent, for the home invasion charge. During a 79th District Court probable cause hearing on Nov. 19, 2014, the 23-year-old alleged victim testified in front of Judge Pete Wadel. Victory Twp. woman may take plea agreement next month.

LUDINGTON — A Victory Township woman accused of embezzling between $50,000 to $100,000 in gift cards from the company she worked for, may be entering a plea agreement for the crime in February. Valerie Kay Larr, 55, of Victory Twp. appeared in 51st Circuit Court Tuesday afternoon with her attorney, Ryan Glanville. Larr was was arraigned on October 10, 2014 by Mason County Magistrate Patricia Baker on one count of embezzlement by agent $50,000-$100,000 occurring between September 1, 2012 and May 1, 2013.  The offense is a felony punishable by a maximum of 15 years in prison. The charges were filed by Mason County Prosecuting Attorney Paul Spaniola following an investigation by the Michigan State Police Detective David Johnson. Glanville stated to Judge Susan Sniegowski that he believed his client was close to accepting a plea agreement from the Mason County Prosecuting Attorney’s office and requested a plea date in 30 days. LUDINGTON — The following were sentenced recently in 79th District Court: – Corey Evan Carsten, 29, homeless, Ludington, was found guilty Jan. 15 of disorderly person – public intoxication. He was sentenced to 10 days in jail with credit for 10 days served; 90 days discretionary jail for one year; and no alcohol/drugs. – J. Charles Smith, 38, of 5847 E. Decker Rd., Fountain, was found guilty Jan. 13 of wildlife conservation, taking a protected animal and sentenced to $485 in fines and costs. One count of wildlife conservation – taking deer/bear/turkeys was dismissed. – Joseph Scott-Charles Oleniczak, 22, of 902 N. Washington Ave., Apt. B2, Ludington, was found guilty Jan. 13 of malicious destruction of personal property. He was sentenced to $645 in fines and costs and 93 days discretionary jail for one year. – Sabrina Teresa Donald, 52, of 607 E. State St., Scottville, was found guilty Jan. 13 of embezzlement – agent or trustee, $200 or more/less than $1,000. LUDINGTON — The following were arraigned recently in front of the 79th District Court Magistrate: Felonies – Jason Warren, 33, of Mount Clemens, was Tuesday by Mason County Sheriff’s Office on charges of possession with intent to deliver cocaine, possession with intent to deliver marijuana and possession of analogues — hydrocodone. Warren faces double penalties if convicted. He is being held on $75,000 cash/surety bond. A preliminary hearing was set for 11:15 a.m. Feb. 11. – Russell Allen Wallager, 29, of 6030 E. US-10, Custer, was arrested Jan. 15 by the State Sheriffs’, Chiefs’ Enforcement of Narcotics Team (SSCENT) for felonies of of controlled substance, operating/maintaining a lab involving firearm/other harmful device; controlled substance, manufacturing methamphetamine; and two counts of felony firearm. LUDINGTON — The following were sentenced recently in 79th District Court: – Scott Samuel-Ray MacArthur, 20, no address listed, pleaded no contest Jan. 21 to stalking. He was sentenced to 90 days in jail; $415 in fines and costs; one year discretionary jail for two years; after release from jail, must obtain a GPS tether and remain on the GPS tether for six months; must have a mental health evaluation and follow recommendations; and no contact with victim until further order of the court. One count of aggravated stalking was dismissed. – Terryn DeWayne Borgh, 17, of 3099 N. Tuttle Rd., Scottville, was found guilty Jan. 21 of aggravated assault. Custer man pleads to resisting police, domestic violence.

LUDINGTON — A 22-year-old Custer Township man may face up to 1 year in jail for resisting a police officer and assaulting his brothers. Gregory Alexander Jolly was arrested Dec. 2 by the Mason County Sheriff’s Office in the 3700 block of East First Street. Jolly admitted in 51st Circuit Court Tuesday afternoon that he had assaulted his two brothers. He also admitted that he had struck Dep. Kyle Boyd when Boyd attempted to arrest him. Jolly was initially charged with malicious destruction of police or fire department property (a 2-year felony), resisting arrest (a 2-year felony), and two misdemeanor charges of domestic violence (93 days). He was offered a plea agreement by Mason County Prosecutor Paul Spaniola of up to 1 year in jail, serving 60 days up front. He would also have the option to spend the last 30 days in an outpatient substance abuse treatment facility. He would also be required to be monitored for up to 6 months after being released from jail. Jolly pleaded guilty and accepted the plea agreement. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Tuesday, March 17 at 2:30 p.m.

Summit Twp. woman pleads to methadone charges.

LUDINGTON — A 21-year-old Summit Township woman appeared in 51st Circuit Court Tuesday afternoon where she faced charges of possession of less than 25 grams of methadone  (a 4-year maximum felony) and possession of marijuana (a 1-year maximum misdemeanor). Jenna Diane Myers was arrested Dec. 5, 2014 by Mason County Sheriff’s Office on Pere Marquette Highway near Sixth Street in Pere Marquette Township. She told Judge Susan Sniegowski that she was in possession of 13 pills of methadone and she was aware that it was illegal. Myers was offered a plea agreement by Mason County Prosecutor Paul Spaniola of pleading guilty to possession of less than 25 grams of methadone and offered a sentence of up to 1 year in the Mason County Jail, serving the first six months up front and the balance served at the court’s discretion. At the end of the fifth month, she may enter into a 28-day substance abuse facility. Myers’ sentence would run concurrent with an August 2014 conviction in 79th District Court of retail fraud second degree. She is scheduled to be sentenced March 10 at 2:45 p.m.

Ludington man faces jail time for resisting police, domestic violence.

LUDINGTON — Allen Michael Mallison, 26, of 512 ½ E. Danaher St., will face up to 1 year for domestic violence and for resisting police. He was arrested on Dec. 1, 2014 by Ludington Police Department and was charged with two counts of resisting police (he assaulted Officer Jason Smith and Sgt. Dean Schultz) and domestic violence, second offense. Assaulting a police officer is a felony punishable by up to 2 years in prison while domestic violence is a misdemeanor punishable by up to 93 days in jail. As a repeat offender, he could face up to 3 years in prison. Mallison appeared in 51st Circuit Court Tuesday where he was offered a plea agreement by Mason County Prosecutor Paul Spaniola of serving up to 1 year in jail, 90 days up front, for one count of resisting police and the count of domestic violence. Mallison admitted that he had assaulted his girlfriend in a house in the 700 block of East Foster St. and that he had resisted police. In Dec. 2011 he was convicted of domestic violence as well. He is scheduled for sentencing on March 10 at 3 p.m.

Filer St., Ludington, was found guilty Feb. 3 of domestic violence. He was sentenced to 28 days in jail with credit for 28 days served; $700 in fines and costs; 93 days discretionary jail for one year; no contact with victim; and must attend Hands-Down program and follow recommendations. – Daniel Adam Lyons, 27, of 14247 Sunview Dr., Holland, was found guilty Feb. 3 of second-offense operating while intoxicated. He was sentenced to one day in jail with credit for one day served; one year discretionary jail for two years; $810 in fines and costs; must attend and participate in Ottawa County Sobriety Court and follow orders; and no alcohol/drugs. Larceny, attempted police assault net jail sentence

LUDINGTON — A 20-year-old Ludington man was sentenced to four months in jail Tuesday, Feb. 10, in 51st Circuit Court for convictions of larceny in a building and attempted assaulting/resisting/obstructing police. Tyler Austin Hendrickson of 210 E. Loomis received credit for 69 days already served in the Mason County Jail. He pleaded no contest to the two counts, Oct. 15. Judge Susan Sniegowski sentenced Hendrickson to one year in jail for both counts; must serve four months up front; and balance to be served at the court’s discretion. The counts are to run concurrent to each other and a district court case. He was also ordered to pay $620.86 in fines, costs and restitution. He was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for two days served; $935 in fines and costs; outpatient treatment; 93 days discretionary jail for one year; must attend the next session of the Victims’ Impact Panel (VIP); no alcohol/drugs; and subject to random preliminary breath tests (PBTs). Man receives jail for breaking into Ludington home.

LUDINGTON — A 31-year-old Ludington man, arrested for second degree home invasion, appeared in 51st Circuit Court today where he was sentenced to 1 year in jail. Fremont Kerricks, 701 E. Ludington Ave., was arrested on Oct. 9 by Ludington Police Dept. and has been in the Mason County Jail since. On Jan. 13, Kerricks accepted a guilty plea of breaking and entering with intent to commit larceny and agreed to serve up to one year in jail, serving 10 months up front and then serving 60 days in a substance abuse treatment program. Kerricks told Judge Susan Sniegowski in January that he entered the home on South James Street on Aug. 26, 2014 to “buy a bag of weed.” However, he had entered the wrong house. “The door was open at the place I went to. I thought the person I was looking for lived there and it turned out now the case. I was walking through the house (asking if anyone was home) but no one answered.” Kerricks admitted that he took items from the house, including a jar of change and some movies. Chase man sentenced for felony drunk driving.

LUDINGTON — A 66-year-old Chase man was sentenced to 12 months jail time today in 51st Circuit Court. Clifford Ray Koster, of 9770 E. US-10, Chase, was arrested Oct. 20 by the Ludington Police Department for a felony of operating under the influence of liquor, third offense, and driving while license suspended, second offense, and habitual offender, fourth offense. Koster will serve 7 months up front in jail with the remainder to be served at the court’s discretion. He also must follow 28 conditions of probation, including electronic monitoring. He will also not be allowed to drive without permission from a probation agent and must perform 360 hours of community service work.

LUDINGTON — A Victory Township woman charged with embezzling gift cards from the company she worked for, pleaded guilty of the crime today in 51st Circuit Court. Valerie Kay Larr, 55, was originally charged by Michigan State Police for embezzling between $50,000 to $100,000 from Aramark Corporation, a felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison. Today, she accepted a plea agreement from Mason County Prosecutor Paul Spaniola dropping the initial charge and adding a charge of embezzling between $20,000 to $50,000, which is punishable by up to 10 years in prison. As part of the plea, she faces up to 1 year in the county jail, serving 4 months up front. Larr said she had a company credit card and, between September 2012 and May 2013, would use the card at Wal-Mart in Pere Marquette Township to purchase gift cards, which she would use for personal use. The charges were filed by Mason County Prosecuting Attorney Paul Spaniola following an investigation by the Michigan State Police Detective David Johnson. Larr was arrested on Oct. 10, 2014 and is scheduled to be sentenced on April 14 at 3:15 p.m. She is currently free on bond.

LUDINGTON — A Ludington man charged with multiple felonies was sentenced to 2 to 15 years in prison today by 51st Circuit Court Susan Sniegowski. Gary Allen Jacobsen, 25, of 207 S. Washington Ave., Apt. 1, initially entered a guilty plea before Judge Richard Cooper on June 26, 2014 for the charge of possession of the controlled substance morphine. However, he failed to appear for his Aug. 12 sentencing. He was then arrested on Oct. 16 by the State Sheriffs’ Chiefs’ Enforcement of Narcotics Team (SSCENT) and charged with possession of analogues (morphine) — a 2-year felony — and also habitual offender fourth offense, elevating his potential punishment up to 15 years. He was also charged with absconding or forfeiting bond, a 4 year felony and assaulting and/or resisting a police officer, punishable by up to 2 years. He has previous convictions of larceny of a motor vehicle, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and possession of analogues. The June 2014 plea agreement was withdrawn from Mason County Prosecutor Paul Spaniola, who then offered a plea agreement of serving 2 to 14 years in prison on the charge of possession of analogues.
